Comedy & Shakespeare Camp

This fall break, high schoolers have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Shakespeare at Falstaff's Comedy and Shakespeare Camp. They'll dive deep into the Bard's enchanting sonnets and verses, honing recitation and performance skills. As the week culminates, they'll have the opportunity to showcase their talent at Knoxville Opera's production of "Falstaff," captivating audiences with Shakespearean recitals as they enter the theatre and during intermission. It's a blend of literary exploration and live performance, fostering public speaking and language skills.

Nathan McGhee is incredibly excited to be working with the Knoxville Opera to share his love and passion for all things Shakespeare. McGhee currently serves as the rising General Manager for the Bijou Theatre.

McGhee has been involved within the theatre world for almost twenty years all across the region. Locally, he has worked with (onstage and off) the Tennessee Stage Company, Encore Theatrical Company, Morristown Theatre Guild, Theatre Knoxville Downtown, and Flying Anvil Theatre. Some notable Shakespearean performances have included Macbeth (Witch), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Puck), Merry Wives of Windsor (Master Ford), Twelfth Night (Sebastian), and more. He holds seven years of dance experience and three years of vocal training. McGhee also boasts numerous national acting titles in forensics, speech and debate, and storytelling competitions.

After studying Theatre Education, he has hosted numerous camps, workshops, and educational initiatives across the region with various nonprofits (Bijou Theatre Center, the Humane Society, Rose Center Council for the Arts, etc.) and Knox County Schools. He has also directed numerous children’s theatre productions (The Hobbit: The Musical, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Harriet Pohter the Musical, etc.) and regularly coaches acting students for local and college auditions.  He is incredibly excited to get back into the world of theatre and to help educate our community’s rising stars.

Sarah-Clementine Mire

Sarah-Clementine Mire has been involved in theatre since she was a child, performing her first professional role at the age of 11. She holds a Master of Music in Voice and Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Music from Texas Tech University. She has performed in over 50 musicals, operas, melodramas, plays, and oratorios. Her most notable roles have been Madame Butterfly (Kate Pinkerton) with Knoxville Opera, Gianni Schicchi (La Ciesca) with Knoxville Opera, the world premiere of Royal Flush (Rosie) with Marble City Opera, Carmen (Frasquita) with University of Tennessee Opera, and Phantom of the Opera (as both Christine and Carlotta in alternating performances) with Moonlight Broadway, Titanic: The Musical (Kate McGowan) with Moonlight Musicals, Fiddler on the Roof (Tzeitel) with Oklahoma City University Performing Arts Academy, The Little Mermaid (Aquata) with Moonlight Broadway, and her first professional role in Amahl and the Night Visitors (Amahl) with San Antonio Lyric Opera. Ms. Mire originated and premiered the role of Avie Lee Parton in My Tennessee Mountain Home with Dollywood Parks and Resorts. She is an accomplished pianist and performed for Twas the Night Before Christmas with Dollywood. Ms. Mire has also studied dance extensively and is well versed in ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, and contemporary. She has performed across the United States with San Antonio Lyric Opera, Fargo-Moorehead Opera, Marble City Opera, Knoxville Opera, Rose Rock Opera, Moonlight Musicals, and Moonlight Broadway. Ms. Mire has also performed throughout Germany as a member of Estacado Cantores in addition to appearing on multiple stages throughout Germany and Italy as a vocal soloist.  Ms. Mire has taught acting, movement, and dance for Hub Performing Arts School in Lubbock, Texas. She has also taught middle school science for Knox County Schools. Ms. Mire is a cantor for The Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus as well as a private voice and piano teacher. She is currently the pianist for Array with the Mountain of Entertainment Theatre in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Ms. Mire is very excited to work with this group of students to help them grow their acting and movement skills.
